Pregnancy
I am a specialist pregnancy yoga teacher and studied with Uma Dinsmore-Tuli.
During pregnancy huge hormonal changes are experienced and physical, emotional and mental readjustments made. Perinatal yoga offers a multitude of benefits during this period of adjustment and can help to
keep
your pregnancy hassle free, helping you to feel comfortable and confident throughout. It helps you to feel
fit,
strong and flexible and cultivates a sense of
positivity and
inner calm.
The practice of yoga in pregnancy can:
- relieve common minor ailments (eg nausea, swollen joints, water retention, heartburn, sciatica)
- improve sleep
- boost energy
- relieve stress and anxiety
- promote strategies to relieve pain in labour
- encourage bonding with unborn baby
Pregnancy sessions are
soft and nurturing,
practising gentle and opening body movements and classical yoga postures which
are, where necessary, adapted to accommodate your pregnancy and with emphasis
on much needed release, rest and relaxation. Attention is brought to the breath
throughout; various breathing techniques are taught which can be used to help
you relax and remain calm, positive and confident during pregnancy, and also
during your birth experience.
My yoga for pregnancy sessions are equally
suitable for
newcomers to
yoga and for those who have an existing yoga practice; they can be arranged on a small group or one2one basis, to suit your
own particular needs.
